Sunrise today over Six Mile Creek in northern Dickinson County. The sun rose at 6:59 a.m. today in the area, the first sunrise in 2020 that has come before 7 a.m. The region will turn colder in the next couple days, with wind chills dipping well below zero tonight and Thursday as a blast of Arctic air punches southward from Canada. Tonight’s low will be near zero, with north winds gusting as high as 30 mph and wind chill values between minus-5 and minus-15 degrees, according to the National Weather Service. About a half-inch of snow may fall as well. Thursday will be mostly cloudy and cold, with a high near 10. Wind chill values again will be between minus-5 and minus-15, with north winds gusting as high as 20 mph. Thursday’s overnight low will be about minus-12 but with lighter winds. The high Friday is expected to be near 15.
