Lake Antoine Park Partners postpones annual open house

One of the improvements done by the Lake Antoine Park Partners was building a beach wall at the park.

IRON MOUNTAIN – Lake Antoine Park Partners Board has shifted its annual open house from Wednesday to June 3 to adjust to the statewide shutdown over coronavirus concerns.

The annual open house offers the public a chance to remember projects from the previous year as plans are developed for the upcoming calendar.

The PowerPoint program that had been readied for the open house to kick off the 2020 project season will be posted online for the public.

“It will showcase the projects LAPP has funding for that will enhance the park alongside the major county efforts going on,” LAPP president Ann Hruska said.

Those projects start in May with a work bee for raking campsites, installing recycling centers and dog park waste stations, and continuing to develop the area on the north side of the campground office, where a wifi café and artistic wall is being set up. Eight movie showings are being scheduled for June, July and August.

The annual Crafty Flea Market, now in its third year with partner The Daily News’ Newspapers In Education program, is scheduled for the first Saturday after Labor Day. Plans for a new fall festival are in the organizing stages at LAPP’s monthly meetings, with activities being developed for families to enjoy a day of games and refreshments.

Exact details on the June open house will be announced in the next few weeks, Hruska said.

“We are now accepting applications to fill position on the board,” LAPP vice president Allison Lucier said. “The seat’s term would expire in July 2021. Improving Lake Antoine Park is our number one concern. Application information is available at www.lakeantoine.org, the volunteer board’s website.”

Starting at $4.00/week.
