Niagara residents advised to obtain absentee ballots

NIAGARA, Wis. — According to Niagara officials, it appears that the state is not considering pushing back the upcoming election due to the impact of the coranavirus pandemic.

Despite multiple requests from the League of Municipalities and the Wisconsin Towns Association, it appears that the statewide election will still be held on Tuesday, April 7.

As a result, city and town officials are strongly recommending that voters obtain absentee ballots and vote early.

If that is not feasible and voters want to cast their vote at the polls on April 7, both the city of Niagara and the town of Niagara will maintain social distancing at the polls with no more than five voters at a time being allowed in the voting place due to health concerns for both the voters and the election staff, whose age group is among the high risk demographic.

Many of the state’s municipalities are struggling to obtain enough poll workers because of the current pandemic and the inherent risk involved.

For those interested in obtaining an absentee ballot, a voter in the city can request an absentee ballot by Thursday, April 2 at myvote.wi.gov, by fax at 715-251-3122, email at afredrick@cityofniagara.org.

You can vote in person at City Hall through Friday, April 3 at 5 p.m.

In the Town of Niagara, you can request your ballot at myvote.wi.gov, or email at townni@borderlandnet.net

Starting at $4.00/week.
