Habitat golf outing on July 30

IRON MOUNTAIN — The annual Raise the Golf Outing will be returning to Timberstone Golf Course this year.

The 18th annual event, which raises money for Habitat for Humanity Menominee River, will be on Thursday, July 30. As in past years, it is a four-person scramble event with a shotgun start at 12:30 p.m. Registration fees include green fees, cart fees, lunch, and a dinner. There will be many prizes and on- course games. They are planning a putting contest to begin at noon.

All proceeds generated from the event stay in the local area and will be used to help fund the home repair program. This program helps income qualified home owners to perform needed repairs on their homes.

The family must own and occupy the home to qualify. In 2019, Habitat completed 24 home repair projects including seven roof replacements, four furnace replacements, three water heater replacements, a septic system replacement, four wheelchair ramps, and non-critical repairs including siding, windows, doors, exterior painting, and minor interior repairs.

Habitat has 11 projects in the pipeline for 2020 and anticipates between 20-25 projects to be completed in 2020.

The number of repairs performed is dependent on the funding available.
