Iron County has third active case of COVID-19

Iron County has a third active case of COVID-19, local health officials reported today.

Along with the Iron County positives, the Dickinson-Iron District Health Department today lists six reported cases in Dickinson County with two deaths, three recoveries and one active case.

The state’s COVID-19 data site Saturday added a new probable virus case for Dickinson County as well.

The Michigan Department of Health and Human Services on Sunday had Baraga, Alger and Keweenaw counties with one confirmed virus case each; Iron County two confirmed cases; Chippewa County two confirmed cases and one probable; Luce County three confirmed cases; Schoolcraft County four confirmed cases; Gogebic County five confirmed cases and a death; Dickinson County six confirmed cases, one probable and two deaths; Houghton and Mackinac counties eight confirmed cases; Menominee County nine confirmed cases; Delta County 18 confirmed cases, three probable and two deaths; and Marquette County 59 confirmed cases and 11 deaths. The new Iron County case was not yet listed.

The MDHHS also earlier had separately had prison inmates as positive in Luce and Chippewa counties.

The Upper Peninsula as of Sunday had 129 confirmed positives and 16 deaths. Ontonagon remains the only county in the Upper Peninsula and in Michigan not to have at least one positive coronavirus test.

The MDHHS statewide reported 189 confirmed new COVID-19 cases Sunday for a total of 59,990 to date. The state had only three new deaths for 5,770 to date.

Dickinson County Healthcare System on Sunday continued to show only three county residents testing positive at its facilities, with two deaths, along with five positives from other counties; those counties are not identified. DCHS had tested 839 people for COVID-19, with eight positive, 825 negative and six results still pending. DCHS noted there are several additional sources of testing in Dickinson County.

For Wisconsin counties in the region, the state Department of Health Services’ data site Sunday listed Marinette County with 39 cases and three deaths; Forest County with 34 cases and two deaths; Vilas County with eight cases; Florence County with two cases; and Iron County with two cases and a death.

Statewide, Wisconsin on Sunday had recorded 22,758 cases of COVID-19, with 692 deaths.
