Advisory issued on potential virus exposure at IM bar
IRON MOUNTAIN — The Dickinson-Iron District Health Department on Monday for the first time identified a local business where others may have been exposed to an individual who later tested positive for COVID-19.
The exposure at Mayme’s Bar, 114 E. Brown St. in Iron Mountain, was July 17 between the hours of 8:30 p.m. and 1:30 a.m., the DIDHD stated in a news release and on its Facebook page.
Those who stopped at the bar during that time period may be at a higher risk for exposure if larger crowds were present and masking and social distancing guidelines were not consistently followed, officials said.
The health department advises that, depending on the length of exposure, people may be at higher risk for contracting COVID-19. Symptoms typically will appear within two to 14 days of the exposure.
“We ask that if you visited the site, or have had close contact with someone who visited the site, and have or develop symptoms such as cough, fever, or shortness of breath that you call your health care provider and inform them of any potential exposure,” said Jessica Perry, the department’s emergency preparedness coordinator.
