Sentence issued in sex case

MENOMINEE — Cody Adam Quackenbush, 31, of Walled Lake, Mich., has been sentenced to 10 to 15 years in prison for the 2019 sexual assault of a 15-year-old Stephenson girl, said Menominee County Prosecuting Attorney Jeffery T. Rogg. The sentence was handed down last week by 41st Circuit Court Judge Christopher S. Ninomiya.

Quackenbush pleaded guilty on May 8, 2020, to a single count of criminal sexual conduct, third degree.

The charges stem from an incident that occurred on Aug. 16, 2019, when Menominee County Sheriff’s Department Deputy Aaron Ihander was assigned to investigate the solicitation of a girl by Quackenbush, which took place online.

Quackenbush drove eight hours from southeast Michigan to meet the girl. Ihander retrieved the cellular phone of the girl and incriminating messages sent by Quackenbush through Snapchat. Three lengths of rope, sexual toys, and alcohol were also found in the trunk of Quackenbush’s vehicle.

Quackenbush had eight previous felony and 12 misdemeanor convictions.
