Thousands awarded for COVID-19 relief

MENOMINEE — The words “commitment” and “community” share the same root. The M&M Area Community Foundation showed its understanding of the meaning of both words as nonprofit organizations struggled from the effects of the coronavirus.

The Community Foundation’s Impact Fund was activated to foster a unified philanthropic response to make grants to nonprofits throughout Marinette and Menominee counties struggling to maintain their mission as the consequences of the COVID-19 pandemic intensified.

The MMACF created and seeded the Impact Fund for COVID-19 Relief with a $25,000 contribution and set about building that fund to over $60,000 with the help of donors throughout the area. The following organizations were awarded an Impact Fund grant: Twin Bridge Rescue Squad, Menominee Animal Shelter, Abundant Life Mission, West Shore Fishing Museum, St. Joseph Conference of St. Vincent de Paul, Camp Daniel, CASA of Brown County, DAR Boys and Girls Club, Crivitz Rescue Squad, Dorothy’s Haven of Hope Homeless Shelter, Greater Marinette-Menominee YMCA, Wausaukee Rescue Squad, Marinette Youth Baseball, St. Vincent de Paul Society of Marinette and Wausaukee Enterprises.
