Man charged in Ironwood assault
IRONWOOD — A Wisconsin man has been arrested after another man was stabbed multiple times and his throat slashed outside an Ironwood motel last week.
The Gogebic County Prosecutor’s office had issued an arrest warrant Wednesday for Benjamin Allen Bozile, 30, of Gillett, Wis., on assault with intent to commit murder involving a 36-year-old man found laying in the motel parking lot.
The 36-year-old is listed in serious but stable condition at Aspirus Wausau Hospital in Wausau, Wis., according to a news release from the Ironwood Department of Public Safety.
Bozile fled into Wisconsin, where he was arrested by a Wisconsin State Trooper after a short chase and taken to jail in Hurley in Wisconsin’s Iron County. He was extradited, arraigned in Gogebic County District Court and now is in Gogebic County Jail on a $5 million cash bond.
Ironwood Public Safety was assisted by Hurley Police, Iron County Sheriff’s Department, Wisconsin State Patrol, Iron County Human Services and Beacon Ambulance.
The case remains under investigation.
