Holmes elected Menominee sheriff
MENOMINEE — Michael T. Holmes, a Democrat, was elected Menominee County sheriff in Tuesday’s election.
Holmes, the current undersheriff, received 6,936 votes to defeat Republican Patrick Armbrust, 4,949 votes.
Current Sheriff Kenny Marks did not seek re-election.
In the race for county road commissioner, Kenneth W. Kline outpolled James Marsicek, 4,472 to 4,093. Both candidates ran without party affiliation.
In Meyer Township, Republican Ray Gurgall was elected supervisor with 226 votes, besting no party affiliation candidates Robert Gurgall, 185; Robert G. Smith, 80; and Charles Schmidt, 30. Smith was the incumbent.
Two Meyer Township trustee slots will be filled by Republicans Brenton Ayotte, 376 votes; and incumbent Mark Schoen, 351. Bruce Phillips, a candidate without party affiliation, garnered 160 votes.
Carney-Nadeau Public Schools voters approved a bonding proposal, 441 yes to 418 no.
