Dickinson reports 60th death from COVID-19
Dickinson County had an additional coronavirus-related death Tuesday but again had far more recovered cases than new positives, according to local health officials.
The county had 12 new confirmed positives, eight probable cases and 64 recovered cases Tuesday along with the new death, the Dickinson-Iron District Health Department posted on Facebook. Iron County had three new virus positives and 12 recovered cases.
The DIDHD on Tuesday listed Dickinson County at 1,890 confirmed positives and 154 probable cases, with 1,275 recovered, 60 deaths and 709 cases still active. Iron County has had 740 confirmed cases and 44 probables, with 583 recovered, 34 deaths and 167 cases still active, according to the DIDHD.
Across the Upper Peninsula, the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services’ coronavirus data site Tuesday had 57 new confirmed positives: 14 in Houghton County, 12 in Dickinson County, nine in Menominee and Marquette counties, seven in Chippewa County, four in Gogebic County, two in Delta County, and one each in Ontonagon and Mackinac counties; the tallies in Iron and Schoolcraft counties were reduced by one each. The state indicated three new deaths in Marquette and Houghton counties, two in Baraga County and one in Dickinson County.
In total for the U.P., the MDHHS on Tuesday had Keweenaw County at 67 confirmed cases and 15 probable, and one death and one probable death; Luce County, 122 confirmed cases and 60 probable; Alger County, 177 confirmed, 91 probable and one death, one probable; Schoolcraft County, 187 confirmed cases and 16 probable, two deaths and one probable; Mackinac County, 247 confirmed cases and 107 probable, one death; Ontonagon County, 272 confirmed, 28 probable and 14 deaths, one probable; Baraga County, 452 confirmed cases, 94 probable and 28 deaths; Chippewa County, 468 confirmed cases and 660 probable, and eight deaths, two probable; Gogebic County, 684 confirmed cases and 280 probable, 12 confirmed deaths and 16 probable deaths; Iron County, 734 confirmed cases and 42 probable, 32 confirmed deaths and five probable; Menominee County, 1,336 confirmed cases, 179 probable and 22 deaths; Houghton County, 1,501 confirmed cases, 370 probable, 17 confirmed deaths and four probable; Dickinson County, 1,887 confirmed cases and 150 probable, 52 confirmed deaths and 11 probable; Delta County, 2,396 confirmed cases and 379 probable, 53 confirmed deaths and 13 probable; and Marquette County, 2,973 confirmed cases, 363 probable and 47 deaths, one probable. State numbers are updated daily but can lag behind local reports or have other discrepancies.
Using only the state’s figures Tuesday, the Upper Peninsula has had 13,503 confirmed COVID-19 cases to date and 290 deaths.
The MDHHS on Tuesday reported 4,730 confirmed new COVID-19 cases in Michigan for a total of 442,715 to date. The state added 183 new deaths Tuesday — including 71 that happened earlier but recently were verified through vital records and testing, according to the MDHHS – to reach 10,935.
For Wisconsin counties in the region, the state’s COVID-19 data site on Tuesday showed 23 new confirmed positives in Marinette County, 10 in Vilas County, two in Forest and Iron counties, and one in Florence County. Marinette County had two more virus-related deaths.
The Wisconsin Department of Health Services on Tuesday had Marinette County with 3,334 confirmed cases, 293 probable cases and 38 deaths; Vilas County, 1,446 confirmed, 44 probable and 19 deaths, two probable deaths; Forest County, 783 confirmed, 54 probable and 20 deaths, two probable; Iron County, 400 confirmed, 83 probable and 10 deaths, six probable; and Florence County, 380 confirmed, 24 probable and 12 deaths. As with the Michigan data, the state numbers are updated daily but can lag behind local reports or have other discrepancies.
Wisconsin added 3,501 new positives Tuesday for a total of 442,396 confirmed COVID-19 cases. The state added 54 deaths Tuesday to reach 4,122.
