Dickinson sees 29 new virus cases

Local health officials Friday reported 29 new COVID-19 positives in Dickinson County plus 15 recovered cases, along with four new confirmed cases in Iron County.

The Dickinson-Iron District Health Department on Friday had Dickinson County at 1,754 confirmed positives and 112 probable cases, with 814 recovered, 51 deaths and 1,001 cases still active. Iron County has had 711 confirmed cases and 39 probables, with 480 recovered, 31 deaths and 239 cases still active, according to the DIDHD.

For the Upper Peninsula, the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services’ COVID-19 data site Friday listed 135 more confirmed positives: 33 in Marquette County; 27 in Dickinson County; 24 in Houghton County; 13 in Menominee County; 19 in Delta County; 11 in Gogebic County; six in Iron County; five in Alger County; four in Luce County; three in Keweenaw County; two each in Mackinac, Ontonagon and Schoolcraft counties; and one in Baraga County. The state also reduced Chippewa County’s count by 17 and listed a single new death in Marquette and Houghton counties.

In total for the U.P., the MDHHS on Friday had Keweenaw County at 60 confirmed cases and 14 probable, and one death and one probable death; Luce County, 122 confirmed cases and 54 probable; Alger County, 165 confirmed, 81 probable and one death, one probable; Schoolcraft County, 176 confirmed cases and 10 probable, one death and one probable; Mackinac County, 227 confirmed cases and 88 probable, one death; Ontonagon County, 263 confirmed, 28 probable and 13 deaths, one probable; Chippewa County, 382 confirmed cases and 533 probable, and six deaths, one probable; Baraga County, 423 confirmed cases, 80 probable and 24 deaths; Gogebic County, 626 confirmed cases and 235 probable, 12 confirmed deaths and 13

probable deaths; Iron County, 709 confirmed cases and 37 probable, 30 confirmed deaths and four probable; Menominee County, 1,256 confirmed cases, 151 probable and 19 deaths; Houghton County, 1,356 confirmed cases, 305 probable, 14 confirmed deaths and two probable; Dickinson County, 1,747 confirmed cases and 114 probable, 45 confirmed deaths and nine probable; Delta County, 2,291 confirmed cases and 322 probable, 51 confirmed deaths and 12 probable; and Marquette County, 2,760 confirmed cases, 328 probable and 31 deaths, one probable. State numbers are updated daily but can lag behind local reports or have other discrepancies.

Using only Friday’s state figures, the Upper Peninsula has had 12,563 confirmed COVID-19 cases to date and 249 deaths.

The MDHHS on Friday reported 8,689 confirmed new COVID-19 cases in Michigan for a total of 389,032 to date. The state added 81 new deaths Friday to reach 9,661.

For Wisconsin counties in the region, that state’s COVID-19 data site Friday showed 29 new confirmed positives in Marinette County, 24 in Vilas County, seven in Forest County, five in Florence County and two in Iron County. New death were recorded in Marinette and Forest counties.

The Wisconsin Department of Health Services on Friday had Marinette County with 3,056 confirmed cases, 262 probable cases and 30 deaths; Vilas County, 1,327 confirmed, 37 probable and 13 deaths; Forest County, 745 confirmed, 47 probable and 19 deaths, plus two probable deaths; Iron County, 366 confirmed, 72 probable and 10 deaths, five probable; and Florence County, 339 confirmed, 25 probable and 12 deaths. As with the Michigan data, the state numbers are updated daily but can lag behind local reports or have other discrepancies.

Wisconsin had 4,847 new positives Friday for a total of 404,555 confirmed COVID-19 cases. The state added 63 deaths Friday to reach 3,625.
