Motorcyclist killed in Breitung Township crash

A 21-year-old Niagara, Wis., man was killed Thursday when the motorcycle he was operating collided with an SUV pulling a trailer on U.S. 2 near Baler Drive in Breitung Township, according to the Dickinson County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies responded to the crash at 2:19 p.m. and a preliminary investigation shows the SUV was eastbound on U.S. 2 and turned in front of the westbound motorcycle, which collided with the trailer, the sheriff’s office said in a news release. The SUV was operated by a 70-year-old Wausaukee, Wis., man.

The Niagara man was pronounced dead at the site and the investigation is ongoing.

Assisting were Michigan State Police, Iron Mountain Police Department, Kingsford Public Safety, Integrity Care EMS, Breitung Township Fire Department and Town & Country Towing and Recovery.
