DIDHD posts 22 new COVID cases in Iron County

Local health officials Friday afternoon showed 22 new confirmed COVID-19 positives in Iron County since last reporting Tuesday.

The Dickinson-Iron District Health Department also reported six more confirmed coronavirus cases in Dickinson County over the same period, plus 32 new recoveries. Iron County had four people considered recovered.

The DIDHD on Friday had Dickinson County at 2,059 confirmed positives and 216 probable cases, with 1,968 recovered, 67 deaths and 240 cases still active. For Iron County, the DIDHD showed 824 confirmed cases and 64 probables, with 746 recovered, 34 deaths and 108 still active.

Across the Upper Peninsula, the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services’ COVID-19 data site added 66 confirmed positives Friday: 20 in Houghton County; 16 in Marquette County; 10 in Iron County; nine in Gogebic County; four in Alger County; two in Delta, Ontonagon and Keweenaw counties; and one each in Dickinson and Menominee counties; Chippewa County’s count was reduced by one. The state had new deaths in Marquette and Chippewa counties.

In total for the U.P., the MDHHS data site Friday listed Keweenaw County at 91 confirmed cases and 17 probable, and one death and one probable death; Luce County, 128 confirmed cases and 69 probable; Alger County, 224 confirmed, 140 probable and one death, two probable; Schoolcraft County, 223 confirmed cases and 22 probable, three deaths and one probable; Mackinac County, 270 confirmed cases and 130 probable, three deaths; Ontonagon County, 288 confirmed, 30 probable and 15 deaths, one probable; Baraga County, 479 confirmed cases, 90 probable and 29 deaths, one probable; Chippewa County, 664 confirmed cases and 969 probable, and 16 deaths, two probable; Gogebic County, 769 confirmed cases and 304 probable, 16 confirmed deaths and 25 probable; Iron County, 819 confirmed cases and 62 probable, 32 confirmed deaths and five probable; Menominee County, 1,547 confirmed cases, 245 probable and 34 deaths, two probable; Houghton County, 1,832 confirmed cases, 454 probable, 27 confirmed deaths and seven probable; Dickinson County, 2,056 confirmed cases and 214 probable, 56 confirmed deaths and 14 probable; Delta County, 2,570 confirmed cases and 441 probable, 60 confirmed deaths and 18 probable; and Marquette County, 3,316 confirmed cases, 461 probable and 52 deaths, one probable. State numbers are updated almost daily but can lag behind local reports or have other discrepancies.

Using only the state’s figures, the Upper Peninsula as of Friday has had 15,276 confirmed COVID-19 cases and 345 deaths.

The MDHHS listed 2,598 confirmed new COVID-19 cases in Michigan on Friday for a total of 533,602. The state added 29 new deaths Friday to reach 13,701.

For Wisconsin counties in the region, the state’s COVID-19 data site Friday showed 20 new confirmed positives in Marinette County and 17 in Vilas County, while reducing Florence County’s count by two. One new death was recorded in Marinette County.

The Wisconsin Department of Health Services on Friday had Marinette County with 3,758 confirmed cases, 356 probable cases and 54 deaths; Vilas County, 1,787 confirmed, 88 probable and 31 deaths, two probable deaths; Forest County, 893 confirmed, 65 probable and 22 deaths, three probable; Iron County, 440 confirmed, 110 probable and 19 deaths, 17 probable; and Florence County, 409 confirmed, 32 probable and 12 deaths. As in Michigan, state numbers are updated daily but can lag behind local reports or have other discrepancies.

Wisconsin added 2,269 new positives Friday for a total of 518,251 confirmed COVID-19 cases. The state had 32 deaths Friday to reach 5,322.
