Fatal crash in Marinette County

WAUSAUKEE, Wis. — A Menominee woman was found dead Sunday in the wreckage of a pickup truck that went off U.S. 141 in Marinette County.

The woman, identified as 52-year-old Hope Tyler, was discovered after daylight off U.S. 141 near Kaiko Road in Wausaukee, according to a news release from Marinette County Sheriff Jerry Sauve.

An investigation revealed the vehicle went off the road and struck a driveway embankment, a stump and a tree sometime during the night between Saturday and Sunday. The wreckage was cold when discovered, the release stated.

The Marinette County Assistant Medical Examiner pronounced Tyler dead at the site. She is Marinette County’s first traffic fatality in 2021, according to the release.

The cause and factors involved in the crash remain under investigation.

Marinette County deputies were assisted by Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources wardens, the Wausaukee Fire Department and the Wausaukee Rescue Squad.
