State shows another 35 virus cases in Dickinson County

State health officials listed 35 new confirmed COVID-19 positives in Dickinson County since last updating figures Wednesday.

Across the Upper Peninsula, the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services’ coronavirus data site Saturday added 172 confirmed coronavirus positives since Wednesday: 36 in Chippewa County, 35 in Dickinson County, 25 in Delta County, 19 in Houghton County, 18 in Marquette County, 13 in Baraga County, seven in Iron County, six in Keweenaw County, four in Menominee County, three in Gogebic County, two in Alger and Mackinac counties, and one each in Ontonagon and Schoolcraft counties. The state reported no new deaths in the region for the three-day period.

In total for the U.P., the data site Saturday had Keweenaw County at 73 confirmed cases and 15 probable, and one death and one probable death; Luce County, 127 confirmed cases and 68 probable; Alger County, 192 confirmed, 129 probable and one death, one probable; Schoolcraft County, 211 confirmed cases and 19 probable, three deaths and one probable; Mackinac County, 262 confirmed cases and 124 probable, two deaths; Ontonagon County, 278 confirmed, 29 probable and 15 deaths, one probable; Baraga County, 472 confirmed cases, 86 probable and 28 deaths; Chippewa County, 592 confirmed cases and 858 probable, and 12 deaths, two probable; Gogebic County, 711 confirmed cases and 295 probable, 15 confirmed deaths and 23 probable; Iron County, 776 confirmed cases and 46 probable, 32 confirmed deaths and five probable; Menominee County, 1,455 confirmed cases, 240 probable and 25 deaths; Houghton County, 1,601 confirmed cases, 391 probable, 25 confirmed deaths and seven probable; Dickinson County, 2,021 confirmed cases and 190 probable, 54 confirmed deaths and 14 probable; Delta County, 2,499 confirmed cases and 417 probable, 60 confirmed deaths and 17 probable; and Marquette County, 3,157 confirmed cases, 425 probable and 51 deaths, one probable. State numbers are updated almost daily but can lag behind local reports or have other discrepancies.

Using only the state’s figures, the Upper Peninsula as of Saturday has had 14,427 confirmed COVID-19 cases and 324 deaths.

The MDHHS on Saturday reported 8,983 confirmed new COVID-19 cases in Michigan for the three-day period for a total of 488,144. The state added 265 new deaths Saturday — including 211 that happened earlier but recently were verified through vital records and testing, according to the MDHHS — to reach 12,598.

The MDHHS no longer provides an update on Sundays.

For Wisconsin counties in the region, the state’s COVID-19 data site Sunday showed for the weekend 19 new cases in Marinette County, five in Vilas County, four in Iron County and one each in Florence and Forest counties. Iron County had a new death as well.

The Wisconsin Department of Health Services on Sunday had Marinette County with 3,565 confirmed cases, 327 probable cases and 45 deaths; Vilas County, 1,609 confirmed, 67 probable and 21 deaths, two probable deaths; Forest County, 858 confirmed, 59 probable and 22 deaths, two probable; Iron County, 423 confirmed, 109 probable and 18 deaths, 17 probable; and Florence County, 399 confirmed, 24 probable and 12 deaths. As in Michigan, state numbers are updated daily but can lag behind local reports or have other discrepancies.

Wisconsin added 1,078 new positives Saturday and 2,446 on Sunday for a total of 486,531 confirmed COVID-19 cases. The state recorded one death Saturday and five on Sunday to reach 4,875.
