Longtime staff member at Trees for Tomorrow named executive director

CHERYL TODEA

EAGLE RIVER, Wis. — Trees For Tomorrow is pleased to welcome Cheryl Todea as the new executive director of its environmental education center.

Todea has the experience, knowledge and passion to continue moving TFT forward in its mission to promote sustainable management through transformative educational experiences, which inspires informed participation in policy-making and promotes stewardship and renewal of natural resources.

Tode’s first exposure to Trees For Tomorrow began in 1995 when, as a student, she attended TFT with her classmates from West Allis, Wis., and Milwaukee.

“This was a life-changing experience for me,” said Todea. “It shaped my career path from that point forward.”

She went on to study natural resource management with a focus in environmental education at the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point and returned to TFT as a seasonal naturalist, where she gained her teaching experience.

She was hired as a full-time environmental educator in 2001 and remained in that position for 13 years until becoming operations manager, occasionally stepping up to fill the interim executive director role as needed.

“My experience with Trees For Tomorrow has been a positive one from the first time I attended to now being a part of the TFT culture and community — from the staff, volunteers, board and council members, to our community of supporters — where I’ve made life-long friendships,” continued Todea.

Her vision for Trees For Tomorrow includes continuing to diversify its programs, partnership efforts and support opportunities; modernize the technological resources to streamline processes and improve communication within the organization and with the external community; and take a strategic and thoughtful approach to operations.

She also plans to continue her work with the NPHS Charter School Governance Board and Association of Nature Center Administrators. She lives in Eagle River with her husband, and her fur-baby, Tippy.

Trees For Tomorrow is an accredited nonprofit environmental education center that teaches the science of nature to groups, families and adults. The campus, located in the heart of Eagle River, includes National Forest property under permit from the USDA Forest Service.

Starting at $3.50/week.
