State: Only 10 new UP virus cases Thursday

State data Thursday showed a total of 10 new confirmed COVID-19 positives and one new death in the Upper Peninsula.

The Michigan Department of Health and Human Services’ coronavirus website Thursday listed five new confirmed cases in Delta County; three in Chippewa County; and one each in Menominee, Houghton and Keweenaw counties; Marquette County’s count was reduced by one. Gogebic County had the only new death.

Using only the state’s figures, the Upper Peninsula as of Thursday has had 16,567 confirmed COVID-19 cases and 388 deaths.

Across the U.P., the MDHHS data site Thursday had Keweenaw County at 117 confirmed cases and 29 probable, and one death and one probable death; Luce County, 132 confirmed cases and 103 probable, one probable death; Schoolcraft County, 232 confirmed cases and 32 probable, four deaths and one probable; Alger County, 279 confirmed, 157 probable and one death, four probable; Mackinac County, 294 confirmed cases and 156 probable, three deaths; Ontonagon County, 362 confirmed, 56 probable and 19 deaths, one probable; Baraga County, 510 confirmed cases, 102 probable and 32 deaths; Chippewa County, 737 confirmed cases and 1,045 probable, and 23 deaths, four probable; Iron County, 866 confirmed cases and 61 probable, 40 confirmed deaths and nine probable; Gogebic County, 948 confirmed cases and 346 probable, 21 confirmed deaths and 28 probable; Menominee County, 1,628 confirmed cases, 265 probable and 36 deaths, two probable; Dickinson County, 2,136 confirmed cases and 241 probable, 55 confirmed deaths and 15 probable; Houghton County, 2,160 confirmed cases, 529 probable, 32 confirmed deaths and eight probable; Delta County, 2,688 confirmed cases and 491 probable, 66 confirmed deaths and 19 probable; and Marquette County, 3,478 confirmed cases, 516 probable and 55 deaths, one probable. State numbers are updated almost daily but can lag behind local reports or have other discrepancies.

The MDHHS on Thursday posted 2,091 confirmed new coronavirus positives in Michigan for a total of 603,375. The state added 23 new deaths Thursday — including 16 that happened earlier but recently were verified through vital records and testing, according to the MDHHS — to reach 15,729.

For Wisconsin counties in the region, the state Department of Health Services’ COVID-19 data site Thursday had six new positives in Vilas County, four in Marinette County, two in Forest County and one in Iron County.

The DHS on Thursday had Marinette County with 3,981 confirmed cases, 403 probable cases and 63 deaths, three probable deaths; Vilas County, 2,167 confirmed, 125 probable and 38 deaths, two probable; Forest County, 928 confirmed, 71 probable and 23 deaths, three probable; Iron County, 555 confirmed, 119 probable and 21 deaths, 19 probable; and Florence County, 422 confirmed, 47 probable and 12 deaths. As in Michigan, state numbers are updated daily but can lag behind local reports or have other discrepancies.

Wisconsin added 502 new positives Thursday for a total of 568,352 confirmed COVID-19 cases to date. The state recorded no new deaths Thursday to remain at 6,524.
