Four more virus cases in Dickinson County, Iron reports three

Local health officials Friday reported four more confirmed COVID-19 positives in Dickinson County and three in Iron County since its last update Monday, while 36 residents in both counties were reclassified as recovered from the virus.

In a Facebook post Friday morning, the Dickinson-Iron District Health Department listed 18 recovered cases in both Dickinson and Iron counties. Dickinson County also had one new probable positive.

The agency had Dickinson County at 2,405 confirmed positives and 338 probable cases, with 2,600 recovered, 72 deaths and 71 cases still active. For Iron County, the DIDHD had 987 confirmed cases and 71 probables, with 961 recovered, 48 deaths and 49 active cases.

For the Upper Peninsula, the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services’ coronavirus website Friday added 19 more confirmed positives: six in Baraga County; four in Marquette County; three in Delta County; two in Ontonagon County; and one each in Iron, Schoolcraft, Houghton and Keweenaw counties.

Using only the state’s figures, the Upper Peninsula as of Friday has had 19,972 confirmed COVID-19 cases and 431 deaths.

Across the U.P., the MDHHS data site Friday had Keweenaw County at 144 confirmed cases and 32 probable, and one confirmed death and one probable death; Luce County, 218 confirmed cases and 252 probable, three confirmed death and one probable death; Alger County, 321 confirmed, 194 probable and two deaths, four probable; Schoolcraft County, 350 confirmed cases and 83 probable, four deaths and one probable; Ontonagon County, 417 confirmed, 59 probable and 20 deaths, one probable; Mackinac County, 452 confirmed cases and 252 probable, three deaths; Baraga County, 684 confirmed cases, 126 probable and 37 deaths; Iron County, 983 confirmed cases and 69 probable, 42 deaths and nine probable; Gogebic County, 1,038 confirmed cases and 362 probable, 22 deaths and 28 probable; Chippewa County, 1,077 confirmed cases and 1,393 probable, and 28 deaths, five probable; Menominee County, 1,788 confirmed cases, 325 probable and 41 deaths, two probable; Dickinson County, 2,396 confirmed cases and 336 probable, 59 deaths and 15 probable; Houghton County, 2,520 confirmed cases, 606 probable, 34 deaths and eight probable; Delta County, 3,337 confirmed cases and 689 probable, 75 deaths and 19 probable; and Marquette County, 4,247 confirmed cases, 819 probable and 60 deaths, one probable. State figures are updated almost daily but can lag behind local reports or have other discrepancies.

The MDHHS on Friday posted 614 confirmed new coronavirus positives in Michigan for a total to date of 887,274. The state Friday had 24 deaths attributed to the virus to reach 19,114.

For Wisconsin counties in the region, the state Department of Health Services’ COVID-19 data site Friday had three new confirmed positives in both Marinette and Vilas counties.

The DHS on Friday had Marinette County with 4,222 confirmed cases, 474 probable cases and 65 deaths, five probable deaths; Vilas County, 2,282 confirmed, 147 probable and 39 deaths, two probable; Forest County, 962 confirmed, 79 probable and 23 deaths, three probable; Iron County, 581 confirmed, 120 probable and 21 deaths, 19 probable; and Florence County, 451 confirmed, 55 probable and 13 deaths. As in Michigan, state numbers are updated daily but can lag behind local reports or have other discrepancies.

Wisconsin added 226 new positives Friday for a total of 609,787 confirmed COVID-19 cases to date. The state posted 13 new deaths Friday to reach 7,053.
