IRON RIVER — A person has been fatally shot by police at an Iron River residence, authorities stated in a news release Friday.

Few details — including gender, age or when the incident took place — were available Friday from the Michigan State Police Iron Mountain Post, which has been asked to investigate the shooting.

The news release referred to the person killed as a suspect, though with no further information. The person was pronounced dead on site.

The Iron River Police Department and Iron County Sheriff’s Office requested the MSP investigation, which is ongoing, according to the news release.
