Slow holiday weekend for new reported virus cases across region

For the Upper Peninsula, the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services’ coronavirus website Saturday added one each in Marquette, Baraga, Chippewa, Houghton and Gogebic counties.

Using only the state’s figures, the Upper Peninsula as of Saturday has had 19,977 confirmed COVID-19 cases and 431 deaths.

For Wisconsin counties in the region, the state Department of Health Services’ COVID-19 data site did not update its figures over the holiday weekend until Monday, showing one new confirmed positive each in Marinette, Vilas and Forest counties, along with a new death in Vilas County.
