‘Thank you for your service’

Speaker Jim Edberg asks veterans to stand up and be recognized for their service during the Tribute to Veterans program Friday at the Dickinson County hangar at Ford Airport in Kingsford. The veterans received a round of applause from those attending and the Kingsford High School Band. Behind Edberg is Will Kroeger, EAA Chapter 439 secretary and Ford Airport Day coordinator, and the Rev. Lori Liverance, pastor at Zion Lutheran Church in Felch Township. After the program, the veterans were treated to lunch and got an early look at some of the aircraft and other displays for the 18th annual Ford Airport Day, which is from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. today. The event will feature free Young Eagle Flights for youth, helicopter rides for a fee, the pedal airplane corral for kids, a Snoopy flight simulator and a classic car show, among other attractions. Admission is $7, with no charge for ages 8 and younger and a maximum family fee of $20. (Betsy Bloom/Daily News photo)
