Maxon selected as DAR Good Citizen at IMHS

Lucas Maxon

IRON MOUNTAIN — Iron Mountain High School senior, Lucas Maxon, has been selected by the faculty and his peers as the nominee for the Daughters of the American Revolution Good Citizen program. He was selected for exhibiting the qualities of dependability, service, leadership and patriotism.

He is the son of David Maxon and Katie Maxon, both of Iron Mountain,

Maxon is very active in many student activities. He has participated in Youth Advisory Committee and Environmental Club for three of his four years of high school. He served in a leadership role as chair of the Environmental Club his senior year. Additionally, Lucas participated in both Science Olympiad and Quiz Bowl for two years of high school. He is also an active member of the IMHS Band, participating in jazz band, concert band, and marching band for three of his four years of high school, and earning section or squad leader roles in all of them at one point.

He is also a strong athlete. He played varsity football for three years, varsity baseball for two years and American Legion baseball for three years.

He demonstrates excellent academic ability. He has been on the honor roll for all four years, a member of the honor society for two years and is currently a member of the National Honor Society. He has maintained a 4.0 GPA his entire high school career. He was also one of six students selected to attend the MyLead Student leader conference, but unfortunately due to the Covid-19 shutdown was unable to attend. He was also chosen as a Boys State delegate.

Outside of the classroom, he is a certified youth football and baseball referee, worked jobs in construction, landscaping, painting and as a stocker at Super One foods. He was also selected as an engineering intern at Lake Shore Systems. In his free time, he enjoys weightlifting and biking.

He lives by the qualities of a DAR good citizen every day. In a recent essay, he wrote, “A good citizen must be able to serve in some way or form to help out for the greater good.”
