Some areas still without power after high winds

IRON MOUNTAIN — We Energies crews were working around the clock to restore damage from Thursday’s high wind storm as 785 customers in Iron County remained without power late Friday night.

“All customers should have power restored or their outage assigned by Saturday,” the company said on its website.

In addition to the Iron County outages, We Energies listed 17 customers without power in Dickinson County as well as 60 in Florence County, Wis.

Extra crews were arriving from across the Midwest, joining the more than 200 workers fixing damage in the field.

We Energies, which provides service across parts of Wisconsin and the Upper Peninsula, said power had been restored to more than 150,000 customers with 98% expected to be restored by Friday night.

Wisconsin Public Service, meanwhile, said it had restored power to more than 113,000 customers and expected to have 90% restored by Friday night.

“Due to the widespread damage, we expect outages will last into the weekend for some customers in the hardest-hit areas,” the company said on its website. WPS also had extra crews arriving, joining more than 200 workers already in the field.

WPS outages included several hundred across the towns of Beecher, Dunbar, Pembine, Amberg and Goodman in Marinette County; Fence, Fern and Florence in Florence County; and Armstrong Creek in Forest County.

Starting at $3.50/week.
