TOWN OF STEPHENSON, Wis. — A Greenleaf, Wis., woman was killed and a DePere, Wis., woman injured in a rollover crash Saturday afternoon in the Town of Stephenson in Marinette County.

According to the sheriff’s office, an SUV was southbound on Parkway Road near Eagle Road when it went into the east ditch and rolled, ejecting one of the occupants, 62-year-old Sally Williams Griese. She was pronounced dead at the site by the county’s medical examiner.

Kim Thomson, 48, was taken to a hospital with injuries that were not believed to be life-threatening, according to a news release from Marinette County Sheriff Jerry Sauve.

Speed and alcohol appear to be factors in the crash, which remains under investigation. Assisting at the site were Town of Stephenson Fire Department and Aurora Bay Area Paramedics.

This was Marinette County’s first traffic fatality of 2022.
