IRON MOUNTAIN — An antique, collectible and rummage sale is planned from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday at “The Dry” building at 411 Kent St. in Iron Mountain.

The Menominee Range Historical Foundation has been in the process of relocating artifacts from the old Carney Library to their new home in The Dry building across from the Cornish Pumping Engine and Mining Museum and the World War II Glider and Military Museum. With the move, they will be selling many items that have been collected over the years.

The Cornish Pumping Engine and Mining Museum and the World War II Glider and Military Museum will open for the season beginning Monday, June 6. Museum hours will be 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Saturday and noon to 4 p.m. Sunday.

The foundation needs volunteers to work this summer. Shifts are 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. and 1 to 5 p.m. Monday through Saturday and noon to 4 p.m. on Sundays. Most volunteers select one specified four-hour shift each week. Substitute volunteers are also needed.

The Menominee Range Historical Foundation is funded only through admission fees, gift shop sales, memberships, donations, bequests and occasionally grants. No tax dollars from city, county, state or national sources are received. Without volunteers it would be financially impossible for the Menominee Range Historical Foundation to open and maintain its museums throughout the summer and early fall.

Volunteering at the museums is a great way to share the area’s heritage with visitors from across the country and around the world and provide a valuable service to the community, MRHM Foundation president and historian Bill Cummings said, adding, “the job includes collecting tickets from visitors and chatting with them about the area’s history.”

For more information, contact Dianne Castelaz-Chiapusio at 906-828-1822 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. weekdays.

Starting at $3.50/week.
