IRON MOUNTAIN — The National Weather Service said thunderstorm chances will return today — mainly in the afternoon through late evening — after downpours Friday afternoon temporarily flooded streets in Dickinson County.

About 2 inches of rain fell at the NWS Ford Airport observation station in Kingsford.

Although some trees were taken down, We Energies as of 8 p.m. Friday reported only 23 Upper Peninsula customers out of service, mainly in Iron Mountain and Kingsford. Norway Public Utilities also reported an unspecified number of outages.

Wisconsin Public Service said about 50 customers were out of service in Beecher and Dunbar, Wis.

Today’s predicted high is 80 degrees. Sunday should be sunny with a high near 70 and a slight chance of afternoon showers.
