Getting ready for Italian Fest

Mike Christy of Spiro’s restaurant in downtown Iron Mountain unloads equipment Friday in preparation for the 15th annual Italian Fest, set for noon to 11 p.m. today at Iron Mountain’s downtown stage area. Spiro’s will work with local food vendors Crispigna’s Italian Market and Northside Noodle Company to provide traditional dishes, while Dulce Nulla will bring cannoli, a classic Italian pastry. The event also features live music, a wine tasting and several of the festival’s usual competitions such as the Grape Stomp and Italian Dinner Toss. A free children’s area will be open from noon to 4 p.m., with bounce houses, bubbles, sidewalk chalk, a magician and more. Admission is $10 at the door, with children age 12 and younger allowed in for free. (Betsy Bloom/Daily News photo)
