Body of missing woman found
OLIVIA ERNST
MARQUETTE — The body of Olivia Ernst of downstate Wixom, who had been reported missing in June, has been found on the shore of Lake Superior in Ontario, Canada, near the mouth of the Montreal River, the Marquette County Sheriff’s Office reported.
MCSO received information June 26 from the Wixom Police Department that Ernst, 31, might have traveled to the Marquette area and that she was threatening self-harm.
Ernst’s unoccupied vehicle and abandoned personal property had been located near the shore of Lake Superior off Buckroe Road, also known as Marquette County Road KO, off County Road 550.
July 30, a body was found near the Montreal River, and later was identified as Ernst. No foul play is suspected. Ontario Provincial Police handled the recovery and identification of Ernst.
The search for Ernst included several police agencies and the U.S. Coast Guard, which dispatched a helicopter to the area.
The Marquette County Sheriff’s Office Special Operations Division also played a role in the search.
