Blood drives planned in October, November

KINGSFORD — Three area schools plan to host American Red Cross blood drives in coming weeks.

The first will be 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 30, at Kingsford High School.

On Thursday, Nov. 13, North Central High School in Powers will host a blood drive from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Norway High School will host a blood drive from 8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 19.

An additional blood drive is planned from 11:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 20, at First Baptist Church, 800 Selden Road in Iron River.

Schedule a time to give blood or platelets by visiting RedCrossBlood.org, calling 1-800-RED CROSS or by using the Red Cross Blood Donor App.

November is National Diabetes Awareness Month. To help empower and educate blood donors, successful donations in November will get free A1C testing, commonly used to screen for prediabetes and diabetes. One test result is allowed in a 12-month period; do not fast before donating.
