Gladstone group seeks model train donations
GLADSTONE – The Gladstone Michigan Soo Line Steam Engine No. 730 Authority is inviting community members to take part in preserving railroad history by donating model train sets and related items for an upcoming Soo Line display event in and around the Gladstone area.
The organization is seeking donations of model train sets, working or non-working; track and accessories; buildings; scenery; and display pieces. All gauges — including HO, N, O and G scale — are being sought.
These items will help create engaging public displays while supporting fundraising efforts for the Engine No. 730 Preservation Care Fund and the long-term vision of a combined welcome center and museum for the community.
“This is more than just a display — it’s an opportunity to carry forward a piece of our railroad heritage,” said John Pickard, president of the Gladstone Michigan Soo Line Steam Engine No. 730 Authority. “Whether it’s a full train set or a few extra pieces, every donation helps build something meaningful for future generations and keeps that railroad spirit alive.”
