Blood drives planned in the local area

MARQUETTE — Three area American Red Cross Blood drives are planned in the area to help offset critical blood shortages. One is set from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Wednesday at Christ United Methodist Church, 20 S. Fifth St. in Crystal Falls. A second blood drive will be from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 11, at First Presbyterian Church, 395 Hamilton Ave. in Kingsford. On Wednesday, Aug. 13, the West Iron District Library, 116 W. Dickinson Dems plan rally in Iron Mountain

IRON MOUNTAIN — The Dickinson County Democratic Party will host a rally celebrating John Hancock’s birthday and the signing of The Declaration of Independence at 1 p.m. Saturday.
