KINGSFORD — Herman Chounard Jr., 94, of Kingsford, passed away Tuesday, Jan. 16, 2024, at Marshfield Medical Center - Dickinson in Iron Mountain. Herman was born Dec. 24, 1929, in Loretto, son of Herman and Margaret (DeBock) Chounard. He was a dairy farmer until he was drafted into the U.S. Army for the Korean War. Herman spent time at various locations overseas in South Korea, as well as stateside at the Hanford Plutonium/Atomic Bomb Plant near Yakima, Wash., during his two-year tour.
