It might be called when history met entertainment.

Photographer Cade Musich, however, is referring to a project he took on to document all of the post offices in the Upper Peninsula through digital photography as “Keep. Me. Posted.”

With more than 127 post offices photographed across the U.P., the project has officially concluded.

The photos and a softcover book are on display through Friday at the DeVos Art Museum at Northern Michigan University .

“At the start of spring 2021, I set out to explore as much of Michigan’s Upper Peninsula as possible by seeking out and documenting as many small towns as I could to immerse myself more in the culture here,” Musich said in a prepared statement about the project. “I kept coming across all kinds of post offices during my journeys and was immediately intrigued by their unique shapes, styles, and sizes. I then made it a point to document every little post office I saw, no matter how big or small.”

From the city of Marquette’s multi-story combination post office, U.S. District Court and U.S. Bankruptcy Court, to the tiny postal operations in places such as Sidnaw and Engadine, Musich has them all.

Taken together, they form a broad spectrum that covers multiple eras, building styles and utilities.
