Lakeland streak over

Women's Basketball

AURORA, Ill. – Lakeland University women’s basketball team and its winning streak met their match Saturday, falling to red-hot Aurora University 87-54.

The Muskies (15-8 overall, 12-6 NACC) saw their seven-game streak snapped by an Aurora team that has won five in a row and clinched the sixth and final spot in the Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference Tournament.

Lakeland is tied for fourth in the conference with two regular season games remaining and still has a chance to host a quarterfinal game in the tourney.

The Spartans (13-10 overall, 11-7 NACC) shot 54.4 percent with an offensive performance that included a 50-point first half and 11 made three-pointers in 21 attempts.

Rachel Stankevich (Goodman) scored 12 points to lead Lakeland. Miranda Jacobson (Felch) scored 11 but saw her streak of six straight double-doubles ended. Maddy Doll (Florence) added 10 points and seven rebounds

Lakeland is back home tonight to host Marian University at the Moose & Dona Woltzen Gymnasium. It also will be Senior Night for Doll and Stankevich, the two seniors on this year’s team.

Bay bows

ESCANABA — Bay College women’s basketball team was unable to recover from a slow start and fell to Silver Lake 63-48 on Friday.

Jordan Kraemer (Norway) scored 13 points and Teidra Fuson (Norway) had 10 for the Norse (10-11), who were outrebounded 49-35.

Green Bay rolls

MILWAUKEE (AP) — Allie LeClaire scored 16 points, Jessica Lindstrom added 13 and No. 20 Green Bay beat Milwaukee 65-36.
