Girls Golf

KINGSFORD — The Kingsford High School girls golf team has taken its game to the next level.

The golf course.

“We started practice indoors in March,” said Flivver girls coach Jean Constantini. “In late April, we were finally able to get outdoors and hit balls on the practice football field.”

The Flivvers are now three nine-hole meets into the Great Northern Conference season.

Seven girls comprise the team, with third-year Haley Bubloni the lone senior and No. 1 golfer. Her best round this year was a 52.

Junior Haley Gabriel, another third-year golfer, plays in the No. 2 position.

“Haley been shooting consistently in the low to mid 50s and also capable of breaking 50 this year,” Constantini said.

The sophomores are Lily Menghini, also a dual sport athlete with track; Kate Cook; Cheyenne Moyer; Mallory Early; and Kaitlin Bubloni.

“Both Mallory and Kaitlin are beginner golfers and show a lot of promise for the future,” Constantini said.

A new GNC Conference scoring system has Gabriel accumulating 20.5 points for three meets, followed by Bubloni, 14, and Cook, nine.

There’s three more nine-hole GNC meets on the schedule along with the 18-hole league championship Thursday, May 24, at Pine Grove Country Club in Iron Mountain.

The GNC title site will rotate every year.
