Girls Basketball: Red-hot Wolves outshoot Norway

CARNEY — With a 41- point first half, the Carney-Nadeau Wolves rolled past Norway Tuesday night at in Skyline Central Conference girls basketball action 73-39.

“Despite our best offense of the season in the first half, Carney was lights out from anywhere on the court,” Norway coach Joe Tinti said. “In all my years of coaching varsity girls in Michigan and Wisconsin, Carney put on one of the best first half shooting displays I’ve ever witnessed.”

Sandra Boulton and Giselle Laurila combined for 37 points, with Boulton netting a game high 21 for the Wolves. Danae Anderson with 11 points and Mackenzie Clifford’s 10 points led the now 0-8 Lady Knights. Tessa Wagner added 13 for C-N.

“I thought our defensive intensity was exceptional,” C-N coach Ken Linder said. “We really moved the ball. We’re really starting to come together and we’re moving the ball and reversing the ball.”

“We did a lot of nice things tonight and got Makenzie (Clifford) and Danae (Anderson) rolling offensively,” said Tinti. “Kali Stanchina also had a nice offensive game for us tonight.”

Tinti noted that there are positive things that can be taken from the Knights play in the first half and hopefully his team can apply them to Friday’s game and the schedule moving forward.

In the JV game, Norway won the battle of undefeated teams 31-29, to improve to 8-0.
