Nelson triple-double not enough for WIC
WEST ISHPEMING — Despite Justin Nelson posting a triple-double for West Iron County, and the Wykons cutting two Westwood leads down to two points down the stretch, the Patriots prevailed 47-41 here Monday night in a West PAC conference game.
Nelson’s triple-double on the evening was 23 points, 10 blocks and 10 rebounds. Zach Carlson led the Patriots with 14 points, with Tyler Dellangelo adding 12 points for the home team.
“I thought we did a good job, cutting down a 13-point lead to two points in the second half. We simply couldn’t get over the hump down the stretch,” said West Iron head coach Dan Schive. “Sometimes you can get more of a lesson from losing a close game, than winning one.”
West Iron (6-3, 4-3) returns to action tonight, traveling to Hancock for another West PAC matchup. Westwood (7-3) travels to Iron Mountain on Thursday.
