Bobcats hang on against Crandon
FLORENCE, Wis. – Kaden Schuls rattled off 20 points, Braden Boettcher added 13 and Patrick Milan scored 11 as Florence improved to 13-3 by holding off Crandon 60-57 in Northern Lakes Conference boys basketball Thursday.
“What a great win,” Florence head coach Bryan Bomberg said. “The kids battled, and let me tell you, the gym was packed and fans were amazing. Sixth man for sure. It was a great feel of what the WIAA tournament will be like.”
Florence built a double-digit cushion in the second half but had to hold off a Crandon charge late.
“We lost track of some of their shooters down the stretch, much like we did against Laona/Wabeno,” Bomberg said. “We have to do a better job down the stretch point-blank on closing out games.”
Dominic DeMuri’s 13 points paced the Bobcats in a 45-35 junior varsity loss. Florence plays at Coleman Thursday.
