Lake Antoine Classic is a go, set for Aug. 8
BREITUNG TOWNSHIP — The 2020 Lake Antoine Classic to benefit Dickinson-Iron Special Olympics will take place on Saturday, Aug. 8, at Lake Antoine Park.
The Classic will consist of three competitive runs — a 15k run through the Fumee Lake Natural Area, a 5-mile run around Lake Antoine and a 2-mile run along the south side of Lake Antoine. Individuals also will have the option to walk the 2- and 5-mile courses, and may bike the 15k course.
The events will be limited to a maximum of 100 participants. All individuals must pre-register by July 29 at www.runsignup.com, as there will be no race day registration. Late registration, with an increased entry fee, will continue until Aug. 5.
In order to promote social distancing, the race start will not include the normal mass start. Instead, there will be a staggered start, with groups of three to five participants starting together and each group being separated by at least one minute from the previous group, with the first group to start at 9 a.m.
The major sponsors for the Lake Antoine Classic are again Systems Control, First National Bank of Iron Mountain and Tadych’s Family Market. Thanks to the generosity of these sponsors, all entry fees will benefit the Dickinson-Iron Special Olympics.
