Miners shut out Wykons

STAMBAUGH — The West Iron County girls tennis team hosted Negaunee at the Nelson Field tennis courts on Monday. The Lady Miners came away with an 8-0 win.

“We ran into a buzzsaw today,” said Wykons coach Joe Serbentas. “They have a very veteran lineup with many seniors throughout. Anytime you play a team of their caliber points are going to be quality and drawn out.”

Serbentas added that the lower doubles flights showed some improvement in strategy and placement of shots against Negaunee.

WIC (1-3) heads to Escanaba Wednesday for a Great Northern Conference match.
