KINGSFORD –Diego Przeslawkowski’s penalty kick with 1:25 remaining lifted Kingsford to a 3-2 win over Iron Mountain in a tightly contested boys soccer match Thursday at Commemorative Field.

“It was a hard-fought game from both teams,” said Kingsford coach Jeff Gordon. ” It’s always fun to watch these two teams play.”

Dylan Wolsker, a Norway student, scored mid-way through the first half to give the Mountaineers a 1-0 lead that held until halftime.

Kobe Gordon knotted the contest at 1-1 early in the second half before the Mountaineers regained the advantage on a goal from Tyler Bengston.

Gordon scored with 10 minutes remaining to again tie the score, setting the stage for Przeslawkowski’s game-winner.

Kingsford’s first goal came on a sideline pass from Przeslawkowski as teammates Cade Counter and Gordon charged the net.

Gordon dribbled unassisted through defenders for the second Kingsford tally.

Although the game was played in Kingsford, Iron Mountain was the host team.

They’ll meet again at Commemorative Field on Sept. 15 with the Flivvers as hosts. A third meeting is set for Sept. 21, with Iron Mountain the home team.

Marquette will play at Kingsford (2-0) on Tuesday.

Starting at $3.50/week.
