IM overtakes Ishpeming with strong setting, serving

ISHPEMING — Iron Mountain’s volleyball team traveled to Marquette County for the second time this week Thursday night. The Lady Mountaineers defeated Ishpeming 3-0 (25-20, 25-19, 25-22).

The dual Mid-peninsula and West PAC Conference matchup had head coach Jeanne Newberry pleased with the outcome.

“We as a team need to keep the momentum of this win strong going forward,” she said. “Our team improved tonight.”

Newberry pointed to the setting of Lulu McCash and Andie Ellis, while noting the strong serving of Bella Rosenthal, Lilly Verrette and Alyssa Medini.

Newberry also praised the digs by Lexi Hagen, Leah Larsen and Annslee Runsat as keys to the win.

The Mountaineer JV and freshmen teams both won 2-0 over Ishpeming. Iron Mountain travels to Norway on Tuesday for a varsity only matchup, beginning at 5 p.m.
