Niagara able to defeat Crivitz in straight sets

CRIVITZ, Wis. — Niagara’s girls volleyball team traveled to Crivitz Thursday night for a non-conference match. The Lady Badgers defeated their Marinette-Oconto Conference foe 3-0 (25-9, 25-16, 25-22).

“Crivitz is always a competitive team and there were some great rallies tonight,” said Niagara head coach Carol St. Arnauld. “We dominated the first two sets. We let our guard down in the third set, and Crivitz made a game of it, however, we were able to win in three sets.”

Statistically for Niagara, Alyssa Cretton had 12 kills, Morgan Borchardt had 17 assists, Abby Wells contributed 11 digs, while Bailey Pearson had eight kills and 10 digs.

“From the starters to the bench, every single one of the girls played outstanding. This was a big win for the team, and now they can celebrate the homecoming festivities,” St. Arnauld added. “We need to continue to play at our level of play and not the level of our opponents. I feel good about what this team has accomplished thus far.”

Niagara, who lost the JV match 2-1, returns home to take on Coleman on Tuesday, and then welcomes Lena on Thursday, both M&O matches.

The Crivitz match was deemed non-conference due to the M&O teams only playing one another once this season.
