Nordic spikers slip past Munising, 3-2

MUNISING — In Skyline Central Conference volleyball action Thursday night, North Dickinson made the long trip to Munising and defeated the Lady Mustangs 3-2 (25-20, 21-25, 18-25, 25-14, 15-10).

“We started out with lots of energy, a kill from Kassandra Cary was the final point of the first set,” said Nordics coach Taylor Johnson.

“Complacency set in for us in the second set and Munising capitalized on our errors and us not getting after free balls; that momentum carried over into the third set, which Munising won as well,” Johnson said.

Ashton Hord played strong near the end of the third set, which got ND back into a rhythm, Johnson added.

“Isabella Reimer played smart and placed the ball well during two serving runs in the fourth set. Cary stepped up her play in this set as well,” Johnson said.

“The final set, Cary played strong at the net and served well. Ashton Hord had an ace to seal the set and win the match,” said Johnson. “It was a long, hard fought win tonight.”

Hord led with 35 digs and Cary had 10 kills. Reimer posted 100% serving.

ND, who won the JV match 2-1(25-23, 9-25, 15-5), is at Stephenson on Tuesday for another Skyline matchup.
