Goodman-Pembine and Florence victorious

Patriots down

Phelps, 3-0

PHELPS, Wis. — The Goodman-Pembine Lady Patriots volleyball team traveled to Northern Lakes Conference foe Phelps Thursday evening. G-P defeated the Lady Knights 3-0 (25-12, 25-12, 25-13).

“Our serving was on tonight. Phelps had some difficulties returning our hard and accurate serves,” said first year varsity coach Nicole Millan.

Statistically for the Patriots, Katelyn Nelson had 10 aces and four kills; Kalli Erickson seven aces, six kills and three assists, while Sierra Dettman added five aces of her own.

The Patriots travel to White Lake on Monday, before traveling to Three Lakes on Thursday. Both are NLC opponents and both are varsity only matches.

Florence over

Elcho, 3-1

FLORENCE, Wis. — At Florence High School Thursday night, The Ladycats girls volleyball team defeated Elcho 3-1 (25-19, 25-16, 21-25, 25-19), in Northern Lakes Conference action.

“We came out firing but Elcho battled back,” said Florence coach Teresa Chrisman. “The girls came out strong in the first two sets, and just shot ourselves in the foot over and over in the third set. We missed seven serves, which is unlike this team. When we finally started hitting again, we pulled away in the final set.”

Chrisman added that Leah Young had 100% serving and had excellent back row play.

Morgan Tomczak led all hitters with 15 kills. Sidney Tomczak had eight kills, and three tip kills. Lacey Enders also notched eight kills, while Maddie Johnson had 15 assists.

“We have a tough match Monday with Three Lakes, and will have to play well against them,” Chrisman said. The Three Lakes match is a NLC home game for the Ladycats.
