MHSAA makes slight crowd restriction change
Sets three sites for U.P. cross county finals
EAST LANSING — The Michigan High School Athletic Association has posted updated guidance for face coverings and attendance at school sports events reflecting the Michigan Supreme Court ruling Oct. 2 and the Emergency Order issued by the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services on Oct. 5.
Summing up, the only change from past guidance is the effective date, immediately, for crowds and gathering sizes — previously scheduled to take effect Oct. 9.
Also, if local health department orders exist that are stricter than these updated MHSAA requirements, member schools and host venues are expected to follow those local orders.

Upper Peninsula cross country finals to be split between 3 sites
A number of changes were made to Michigan High School Athletic Association fall state tournament finals, though only one will affect teams from the Upper Peninsula.
Changes were approved at a Sept. 30 meeting of the Executive Committee, which is comprised of officers of the larger MHSAA Representative Council.
In cross country, the U.P. Finals meet will be held at three sites instead of all runners converging at one site, which had been scheduled for Gentz’s Homestead Golf Course in Chocolay Township, in Marquette County.
On Saturday, Oct. 24, Division 1 runners will travel to Presque Isle Park in Marquette; Division 2 at George Young Recreational Complex near Iron River; and Division 3 at Pictured Rocks Golf Course in Munising.
