North Dickinson edges Superior Central, 3-2

FELCH TOWNSHIP — It took five sets for the North Dickinson Nordics volleyball team, but they defeated Superior Central 3-2 (25-19, 18-25, 25-14, 23-25, 15-7), Thursday night in Skyline Central Conference action in the Carl F. Lemin Jr. Gymnasium.
“We played scrappy, and we had a really big night at the net,” said coach Taylor Johnson. “Superior Central hit the ball very well tonight.”
Johnson added that the Nordics three captains played outstanding: Ashton Hord, Kassandra Cary and Chrislyn Inglese.
Cary had 15 kills and 18 blocks. Hord was very active — six kills, 11 digs 24 of 25 serving. Inglese contributed nine kills, seven blocks and seven digs.
“Overall, it was a great team win. Communication was great tonight. We tried some new things tonight and learned some new things about our team,” said Johnson.
SC won the JV match, 2-1 (25-23, 9-25, 15-9.)
The Nordics’ Tuesday match at Rapid River is postponed to Oct. 19. The Nordics’ next match will be Thursday at North Central in SCC action.
