Prep football playoffs: NC blasts Lake Linden-Hubbell; Kingsford, West Iron seasons end

IRON MOUNTAIN — The North Central Jets took another step forward Saturday in the MHSAA eight-player Division 2 football playoffs by downing Lake Linden-Hubbell, 52-8, at North Central High School in Powers.

The Jets’ Alex Naser ran the opening kickoff back 77 yards for a touchdown and the Jets never looked back, improving to 8-0 on the season.

North Central will host Cedarville next week, with the date and time of the game to be determined. The full game story and photos will be in Monday’s edition of the Daily News.

In downstate Reed City, the Kingsford Flivvers’ 2020 season fell short with a 32-14 loss in its Division 5 regional semifinal game. The Flivvers, who finished the season 4-3, got on the scoreboard first, but the undefeated Coyotes’ rushing attack proved to be the difference in the football game.

Further coverage of the Kingsford game will be in Monday’s edition of the Daily News.

In Stambaugh, the West Iron County Wykons’ season came to a close with a 22-6 loss to Bark River-Harris at Nelson Field. Bark River-Harris, who improved to 6-2 on the season, will take on Iron Mountain in the district championship game at Mountaineer Stadium, with the date and time of the game to be announced.

A full game story and photos of the BR-H at WIC game will be in Monday’s edition of the Daily News.

Iron Mountain defeated Bark River, 41-6, at Mountaineer Stadium on Sept. 25.
