Patriots roll; Badgers triumph

GOODMAN, Wis. — Junior Boone Larison netted 26 points, as Goodman-Pembine doubled up White Lake 72-36 Monday night at the Laverne A. Zimmerman Sports Center at Goodman-Armstrong Creek High School.

The Patriots improved to 5-0 on the season in the Northern Lakes Conference matchup.

Jacob Kessel added 10 points and senior Lamarr Lewis chipped in nine for G-P.

The Patriots travel to Marinette on Friday to take on St. Thomas Aquinas in a varsity only matchup. Tip off is at 5:45 p.m.

In Niagara, with four sophomores in the starting lineup Monday night, Niagara got their first win of the season as they defeated Gillett 60-43 in Marinette-Oconto Conference boys basketball at Niagara High School.

Niagara head coach Steve Derwinski decided to start sophomores Ed Swanson, Nicholas Krueger, Logan Weber and Aiden Colenso. “Those four played well tonight,” Derwinski said. “We had good ball movement tonight and had good shot selection. We also pushed the ball up the floor really well.”

The Badgers, who improved to 1-3 on the season, were led in scoring off the bench by Ty Colenso with 13 points. Senior point guard Dawson Lincoln added 12 points for Niagara.

Brandon DeBauch led all scorers with 16 points for Gillett, while teammate Tyler Frank chipped in 12 points in the losing effort.

Niagara, which won the JV game 51-11, remains home, hosting M&O opponent St. Thomas Aquinas on Saturday afternoon at 3:30 p.m.
